Preventive Care
Preventive care and health screening in Winter Haven
Prevention is the part of medicine most often skipped when visits are short. It is deliberately central here: finding risk early, deciding which screenings genuinely apply to you, and acting before a problem becomes a diagnosis.
Overview
About this care at Direct Prime Care
Preventive care is not a single test. It is a structured look at your personal and family history, your current numbers, your medications and your habits — then a plan matched to your age, sex and actual risk profile.
Screening recommendations change, and not every recommendation applies to every patient. Dr. Shvets explains what the evidence supports for someone with your history, what is optional, and what can reasonably wait.
Because members have longer visits, prevention does not get pushed aside by whatever brought you in that day.
What to expect
What a preventive visit includes
History and risk review
Personal history, family history, medications, lifestyle and prior results.
Age-appropriate screening plan
A written list of which screenings apply to you now and which come later.
Metabolic and cardiovascular assessment
Blood pressure, weight trend and relevant laboratory evaluation when indicated.
A realistic plan
Changes you can actually sustain, plus a follow-up interval so progress is measured.
Common questions
Questions patients ask
Is a preventive visit the same as an annual physical?
They overlap. The annual physical is the scheduled yearly comprehensive visit; preventive care is the ongoing work of screening, risk reduction and follow-up that continues between those visits.
Will I need lab work?
Often, but not always. Laboratory testing is ordered when it will change a decision, and the reasoning is explained before it is ordered.
Does membership cover preventive visits?
Preventive and wellness visits are part of the primary-care services described in your membership agreement. Outside services such as imaging or specialty testing are separate.
