Primary Care
Primary care in Winter Haven, Florida
Primary care is the long-term relationship at the center of your health — the physician who knows your history, follows your numbers over time, and helps you decide what actually needs attention.
Overview
About this care at Direct Prime Care
Direct Prime Care is a family medicine practice in downtown Winter Haven led by Dr. Tetyana Shvets, DO, who completed her family medicine residency here in Winter Haven. Primary care here covers the everyday work of medicine: preventive visits, acute illness, ongoing management of chronic conditions, medication review, health screenings, and interpretation of laboratory results.
The practice uses a direct primary care membership rather than billing insurance for routine visits. That structure is what makes longer appointments and direct communication possible — but the medicine itself is ordinary, comprehensive family medicine for adults and children.
When care is needed outside the practice — imaging, specialty consultation, hospital care, surgery — Dr. Shvets helps coordinate it and reviews the results with you afterward.

Common questions
Questions patients ask
Do I need insurance to see a primary care physician here?
No. Routine primary care is covered by your monthly membership and is not billed to insurance. We do not currently accept insurance. We do recommend keeping coverage for care outside the practice, such as emergencies, hospitalization, imaging and specialists.
Does the practice see children?
Yes. Children can be enrolled individually or as part of a family membership.
Can you be my primary care physician if I live in Lakeland or Davenport?
Yes. Many members drive in from elsewhere in Polk County, and some follow-up visits can be handled by telemedicine when clinically appropriate.
Are laboratory tests available?
Yes, laboratory testing is offered through the practice. Where lab work is not included in your membership, it is billed separately and the pricing is shared with you first.
